Activity 105 DONE! woohoo!

We are officially done with activity 105. Due to missing a day of class last week for Soul Writers, CP groups 003 and 004, today you had to turn in your company poster and completed packets. All analysis questions had to be done and the packet needed to be filled in.
Group 003- thank you for those of you who typed out your analysis in class today. You showed such great effort. You do not need to finish typing these- It was a little too ambitious for our short class period.

Honors- You need to complete your individual activity 105 papers by THURSDAY. Have it already printed or emailed to me BY THURSDAY!

Below is my example.

example paper

Please bring in food labels (with the nutrition facts like how many calories and grams of protein) for class on Thursday.

Tomorrow I will be at Marist with the AVID kids. You will be working on completing activity 108 during class.

Artificial Bone Lab

We're off to the races with the artificial bone lab. You should have the article from Wednesday as well as the lab packet from today. (Anyone from the Soul Writer's production should get it too!)

Tomorrow and Friday will be a building and testing day. I expect everyone to keep ALL data and prototypes. We should be able to recreate any of your testing prototypes from your notes.

A rubric for the final turn-in is shown below:

Philosophical Chairs Prep

Hi Everyone-

Welcome Back to Quarter 4! 44 days left in 8th grade!

Today the objective was SWBAT explain advantages/disadvantages of types of space exploration. We read the activity 97 role play and filled out a pro/con chart for the advantages and disadvantages of piloted vs. unpiloted missions.

Tomorrow we are doing philosophical chairs.
Prepare your graphic organizer (On WS) and write a claim for whichever mission you support. Research and prepare convincing arguments using stats and quotes. Also write bullet points on the index card (one side for one mission, the other on the back) so you are knowledgeable on both issues.  Mediators, make up some prompting questions to ask the class.

Grade update

Since we updated portfolio folders today and passed back A LOT of work, I also passed out grade updates.

PARENTS- with the snow days, concerts, and winter break- many students are missing big project grades and quiz grades. PLEASE ASK YOUR CHILD FOR THE GRADE SHEET.

STUDENTS:
If you have a zero on a project, quiz, or notebook check- you can still turn those in for partial credit. It is YOUR responsibility to make up work when you are out of class. If you have a zero on the children's book, the highest grade you will receive is a 10/20, but a 50% is better than a 0%.

Activity 78

Today we did Activity 78: the Earth on the Move.

We discussed annotating for a purpose and annotated the article.

Homework is to complete the analysis questions 1-8 and bonus question.
Seasons posters were due today.

Tomorrow we will be updating our portfolios and starting the moon.

See you tomorrow!
