Okay people Simple Machines is coming to a close. Our test is soon and the following topics will be covered:
- All 6 Types of simple machines
- Lever, Pulley, Wedge, Inclined Plane, Wheel & Axle, Screw
- The input force and output force of all the simple machines
- What Work means. The force on the object and the motion MUST be in the same direction!
- Work = Force x Distance (we measure work in Joules)
- Mechanical Advantage = Output Force / Input Force
- Mech. Advantage means how many times the force is multiplied by the machine
- Efficiency = (Output Work / Input Work) x 100
- Efficiency is how well the machine is working. It is ALWAYS less than 100% because we always 'lost' some force to friction
CP: You're taking the test on Friday so tomorrow is your last day in class to finish the review and ask me any questions. I will be available at lunch and after school. These links are answer keys to materials we have had in class:
Input and Output Forces
Efficiency Notes
Mechanical Advantage Notes
How to make a flipchart to study (These were done in class today!)
CP Test Review Homework
Work, Mechanical Advantage, and Efficiency Practice
Honors: 001 You'll be taking the test tomorrow. 002 you'll be taking Friday. I'm sure you're all ready for it. Either way, I've attached your materials as well:
Input and Output Forces
Efficiency Notes
Mechanical Advantage Notes
Honors Test Review Homework
Work, Mechanical Advantage, and Efficiency Practice
Good luck studying and e-mail with any questions!
