Letter to School Board Class Brainstorm

Letter to Board of Education Class Brainstorm:

·         make the windows open more- passive design- wouldn't need to buy AC

·         new light bulbs- we recommend fluorescent bulbs

·         solar panels

·         No portables- insulation! they have cardboard walls

·         energy efficient appliances* in the school cafeteria

·         try to make the school energy efficient

·         replace light bulbs to be fluorescent- last a long time, may cost more up front, but save money over time, don't give off as much TE, saves energy

·         solar panels- schools remain open for a very long time, solar panels will create low energy bills and run, most of the appliances in the school on sunlight, which is a renewable resource

·         buy new energy efficient appliances in the school kitchen, prevent TE loss

·         buy frames for windows that are fiberglass or wood, double pane, and open more to get a breeze

·         Duct system for heating/cooling- thermostat!
